Title: Detecting Dark Matter with SuperCDMS Experiment

摘要:暗物质是一种基于天文观测的假说理论。如果暗物质被证实存在,依据现有数据推测,它很可能占了宇宙能量组成的四分之一以上。尽管在天文观测中有种种证据支持其存在,至今还没有在地球上的探测器捕捉到暗物质信号。SuperCDMS实验用工作在超低温(50 mK)的硅和锗探测器试图捕捉暗物质信号。在这个报告里,我将讨论SuperCDMS探测器使用的技术,SuperCDMS实验的现状,以及下一阶段SuperCDMS实验的预期灵敏度。

Abstract: Dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter that, if it exists, may account for more than a quarter of the energy density of our universe. Despite the variety of astrophysical evidence pointing to its existence, the direct interaction of dark matter in a terrestrial detector is yet to be observed. The Super Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (SuperCDMS) experiment tries to observe a dark matter signal in silicon and germanium detectors operated around 50 miliKelvin. In this talk, I will discuss the technology, the current status, and the projected sensitivity of the next generation SuperCDMS experiment.

报告人简介:洪子卿,2010年本科毕业于中国科学技术大学近代物理系。2015年于Texas A&M University获得物理博士学位。2015年至今在Northwestern University以博士后职位从事研究。研究方向是基本粒子实验,主攻暗物质探测实验。
