Partial Differential Equation Models of Infectious Diseases
At the invitation of Center for Mathematical Sciences and School of Mathematics and Physics of CUG, Professor Yuan Lou from The Ohio State University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University gave an online talk titled “Partial Differential Equation Models of Infectious Diseases” on Oct 11th, 2021. Teachers and students in School of Mathematics and Physics in related research fields attended this academic colloquium.
Starting from the basic mathematical model of infectious diseases, Professor Lou discussed the influence of crowd movement, environmental cycle, incubation period, diseased plants and other factors on the outbreak of infectious diseases, introduced several partial differential equation models and mathematical theoretical results, discussed related biological predictions, and tried to raise some new mathematical problems.
